Drive X: problem in Office 2003 Setup

A

Anonymous

I have Microsoft(r) Office 2003 Proffesional Edition installed on my
computer running Microsoft(r) Windows(tm) XP Home Edition with SP2.
However, whenever there is an attempt to install something (for
example, when I'm starting up Microsoft[r] Office Excel 2003), Windows
Installer wants to write to drive X:. I tried to fix this problem by
changing my DVD+RW drive's (the only one that Windows will read from,
even though I also have a CD-ROM drive) letter to X: (I, at first,
thought it wanted to READ from drive X:, not write). I can't start
Excel, and I can't fix an Microsoft(r) Office Outlook 2003 problem (I
can still use Microsoft(r) Office Outlook 2003, fortunately) I'm
having.
Please help me!

Sincerely,
Anonymous

It's likely that your Windows installer version is corrupted, either from
here:
"I tried to fix this problem by
changing my DVD+RW drive's (the only one that Windows will read from,
even though I also have a CD-ROM drive) letter to X"
or here:
"(I, at first,
thought it wanted to READ from drive X:, not write)"
