Hi,
I would like to have the driving predecessor highlighted for tasks with
multiple predecessors as in P3 where the driving predecessor is
highlighted with *. Is it possible in msp2003 or are there any macros to
enable this.
Thanking you in advance.

Hi farzim,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Not possible in Project. However, you could Mark (Insert/Column.../ picked
the Marked field) such tasks as you develop your plan. Then you can format
the bars for Marked tasks.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

You will need some VBA to do this in 2003. Just an FYI, P2007 will tell you
the driving factor for a task out of the box. It may be cheaper to buy an
upgrade than spend your time with the VBA.

I utilize a macro that identifies the specific driver task, but this is not
freeware.
You may want to try seaching for Rod Gil's book on VBA programming in
Microsoft Project he has some things there to get you started.

Thanks Mike and Jim for the immediate response.
With the help of macros I have been able to populate the text field
with the driving predecessor.
Thanks once again!

Hi Andrews,

I really dont mind sharing, but it has been a modification of macr
'trace' by Jack Dahlgren where in you can trace the successors an
predecessors of a single task.I have modified it to give the drivin
predecessors of all tasks in the project in a column field 'text1'.I
has worked fine for me. I have not used external tasks

Since it has been mentioned in the program not to redistribute withou
authors permission,I would rather take his permission and paste in thi
forum.

Regards
