Drop down box bug

For some reason, when using Word 2007, I sometimes will have a "freezing" of
drop down menus, such that I cannot see text under them any longer, and the
drop down won't go away by clicking elsewhere on the document or screen.
This occurs on 2 different machines, both XP, one a fancy new Dell desktop,
XPS 410, and one an older Tablet PC. The only way to end the bug is to exit
out of Word and then restart the program.

Is this a well known problem, or unique to me? I can't find it on a search
of this forum, though perhaps I'm looking it up wrong.

Hi Joe,

I read these newsgroups every day, and that's the first time I've read
about a problem like that. Because Office 2007 is so new, though, I'm
sure we haven't heard about even a fraction of the problems that'll
eventually occur.

The first troubleshooting step is to start Word in safe mode (hold
down the Ctrl key while starting up) and see if that makes the problem
go away. If so, you could have a badly written add-in or a damaged
Normal.dotm file.
