Drop down calendar menus disappear

This is a bizarre problem which I thought must be due to some sort of
corruption on my hard drive. However, using Google to check back on this
group and the other outlook group I've seen the same problem noted six times
over the past couple of years, from users of both Outlook 2002 and 2003. I
use 2003 and I don't recall that I had the problem with 2002. I run Win XP
Pro.

The problem:

This occurs when I try to enter dates in the calendar, task list or
birthdays section (contacts). You try to select a date to enter a task, or
enter a date for someone's birthday - you click on the drop down menu and a
mini calendar appears. In theory you should be able to click on the calendar
and enter a date. In my case, as soon as I move the mouse cursor over the
calendar the whole box vanishes! I just cannot get it to work.

The problem also occurs in task list mode when I display it as a timeline
and try to click on a month to go to a particular date - as soon as I 'mouse
over' the drop down calendar it disappears.

The drop down menus work in all other contexts eg. email 2, email 3,
alternative addresses etc, so it's just the drop down calendar box that has
the problem.

Having seen others reporting this same issue I know it must be a bug,
although a rare one, as nobody has yet commented on it or offered any advice
in any newsgroup I've seen. Hopefully this time it will be different!

Should I try the detect and repair programme to see if that corrects any
corruption?

It's a very annoying problem so I hope somebody can help!

Thanks in advance.
