Drop down list ... lose it!

I had inserted a drop down button in an excel (I think 95 spreadsheet) which
has been upgraded to 2000. Now I want to remove the button and can't figure
out how ... I can remove the reference but I don't want to annoy our user
with it. Does anyone know how to lose the button?

Is the button from the Control Toolbox? Right-click a toolbar and choose
Customize>Control Toolbox toolbar. Enter the design mode (click on the green
triangle icon), then right-click the button and choose Cut.
