Drop Down Menu Not Responding

Hi, when I want to open a file that is not in the default My Documents
folder shown by selecting OPEN from the FILE/OPEN menu, when I select the
Look in: drop down menu arrow in the open box it takes a 5 seconds before
the drop down menu list drops down. On the other computer I have the drop
down menu list appears instantaneously Is this some setting I need to
change and if so what?

This happens in Excel, Word, and Access

Windows XP Pro and Office XP

AMD 2.4GHZ processor and 512MB ram
I posted this previously but I cannot find the post so I cannot tell if
anyone answered.
