Drop Down Validation

I have IP 2003.

have a drop down field that is required so the checkbox that says cannot be
blank is checked.

The value for "Please select one" is blank so the edit works.

However, if the user selects a value and then goes back and reselects the
"Please Select One", it does not read the field as empty. and the firm gets
submitted without a value in a required field.

How can I fix this?

Thanks

It works for me. Maybe you have a rule somewhere that is setting the value of
the drop-down?

In 2003. Believe it or not, I use both versions. It will take a while before
customers who are currently using InfoPath 2003 make a switch to 2007, so
until then, I will continue using version 2003.

I created a simple form with a drop-down, added some static entries to it,
made the form submit to an email address, tested it, and did not experience
the problems you described. It is most likely that my form is not a good
representation of yours, which is why I cannot reproduce the issue.

It really became a non-issue as I put a conditinal format on the submit
button that if this field is blank, disable the the button

I am sure it must be tied to some other rules I have as well.

Will try it on the next form before I get it all too complex with multiple
rules.

Thanks for your help as usual
