Drop in Cell Values for Linked Workbooks

I want to link two workbooks, a masterlog of sorts and
salesperson performance sheets. Ideally, I'd like
certain data from the masterlog to drop automatically
into the respective salesperson's performance sheet.
Firstly, I am not quite sure which formula would be the
best, if not correct one and secondly, as the masterlog
contains data for several different salespeople, does the
cell in the masterlog which identifies the salesperson
drive the formula? Thanks much!-Lorie Ann

What you're looking for is called "linking"......first, open your two
workbooks and size them so you can see both on the same screen, (or two
screens if you have them),........then in the cell you want something to
"automatically drop" in to, just type the equal sign (=), then transfer over
to the other workbook and click on the cell you want to be copied and hit
enter......

..........or you could just use the formula =[Book1]Sheet1$a$1 and replace
"Book1" with your WorkBookName and the same with the sheet and cell
location........

If you're on a network tho, check with your MIS dept to make sure they're
not gonna change your directories around anytime soon......that wreaks havoc
with links......
