dropdown boxes on web form

I'm currently using Infopath 2007 to create some web forms to help our
users input (and maintain) data from the web right into our database
and i'm facing some issues.

The idea here is to create several Infopath forms (web-only) and allow
our users to add new records, update, and even delete some - all this
using infopath web forms. Is Infopath 2007 the tool to use to create
web forms that would not just add but update/delete data)? --- plz
correct if wrong --- i mean, some fields in the forms-to-be involve
just typing a bunch of text, but others imply selecting options from
several drop-down boxes with hundreds of options (for example) that
take time to display (retrieved from a web service) -- is there a way
to allow the user type some chars/digits up-front and then trigger a
web service that would return any matching option on database, and
finally let the user pick from the options listed?

Hello

You can design forms that can be opened in a web browser in Infopath 2007.
Users can add /delete and update data. users can also populate the data into
some fields using webservices. Did you mean a search functionality when you
said you will type some chars/digits in the fields? If so, Yes you can
achieve this by writing some code in your application
