Dropdown List from range in a different worksheet

I was looking at Data / Validation on the Excel menu and
when trying to set up what I needed it told me you cannot
reference a range from another excel file for Validation.
What I want is to have a dropdown list in a cell in one
file that has the list that is pulled from a range in
another file. Is this possible.

You could re-build the list in the workbook where it is required with
standard formulae refering to the original, then use that list for the
validation.
