Dropdown menus in a template?

Is it possible to add a dropdown menu in a template and assign macros to this
dropdown menu? i know that I can do this in the toolbar but is it possible to
do it in a template as well?

e.g. if a made a template “letter†and I the end add a dropdown menu wit 3
different fields for running three different macros. (Insert file “kind
regards†or “yours sincerely†or “with loveâ€)

Toolbars *are* in templates (or less often in documents)...
So I do not understand your dilema...

Yes, this can be done.

You can add a menu either to a custom toolbar or to the menu bar in a
template using the Tools Customize dialog. You can then add buttons to the
menu that point to macros in the normal way.

Make sure that when you use the Customize dialog, your template is open, and
the "Save in" box of the dialog is set to your template.

On the Commands tab of the Customize dialog, the last item in the Categories
list is "New menu". Click that, and there is just a single item in the
"Commands list", also called "New Menu". Click and drag that item either to
a custom toolbar or to the menu bar. Then select Macros from the category
list, and select the macros you want to add to your menu by clicking and
dragging the item onto your newly-created menu.

So I do not understand your dilema...

Ah! After reading Jonathan's reply, it occured to me that you may not have
known that toolbars customizations are actually stored in templates. From the
way you wrote your question it seems that you have made customizations (for
your macros)to toolbars before, so I assumed that you understood the
underlying principles. When you make changes to the toolbar without
specifying anything in particular as to where those customizations are
stored, they are stored in the Normal.dot template.

If you make changes to a template and place that template in the Startup
folder (Tools > Options... > File Locations tab), then those toolbar
modifications will be available to all documents.
If you just place the template in a regular folder, the customizations will
be vailable only to documents based on that template.
