I hope that you can help me - I have asked this query in the VB.NET
newsgroups and got nowehere with ot. I see the odd mention in this
newsgroup re this OCX - so I am hopeful. I wanted to use this OCX -
initially to just view Word documents - actually just RTF format - but the
documents tend to be complex conatining tick boxes etc and do not format
correctly unless viewed in Word.
DSOFramer seemed ideal and seems to work fine if the document is loaded via
the dialogue box. Unfortunately if I then load documents by using the Open
command with the OCX and giving the file name, my machines tend to lock and
then I get a Blue-screen crash. Has anyone else used this control and found
this problem?? Any ideas of how I miight get around it?? I have tried to use
something called AutoItX to see if I could automate the dialogue box in
DSOFramer, but I cannot sem to get this to work the way I have got many
other things working with AutoItX.
Alterantively - has anyone other ideas for embeding Word into my
appliation?? Any lowish cost 3rd party tools (or higher cost if can be used
for editing - especially Mailmerge). I have tried the Webbrowser control but
this is fraught with problems - Toolbars - although I think I have sorted
out the workround here. The main problem seems to be the spurious way that
documents decide to open in an external insance of Word. I have spent a long
time on this one and keep going around in circles. Ideally I do not wnat to
open an external version of Word because of multiple instances and also the
fact that I will have to support multiple versions of Word. DSOFramer seemed
ideal - .. ifonly!
Best wishes
