DST-Time Zone Data Update Tool for MS Outlook 2003

Hello:

I have the Windows Time Zone Update Tool--KB931836 installed on my PC via
Windows Update.

I don't see a corresponding Time Zone Update Tool for Microsoft Outlook
2003 listed on installed Windows Updates.

I do see a link for the download and installation of such a tool:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...9DD8-AE0F1AF62568&displaylang=en#Requirements

Questions:

1) Is it recommended that I install this download? I live on the East Coast
USA

2) Should I install this now , or wait till the time actually changes on
March 11

Thanks in advance:

-Eli

Do you use Outlook 2003 Calendars?
Do you have appointments between March 11 and April 1, 2007 that may be
incorrect (and you can look at them now and see they are incorrect?)

The actual Outlook 2003 tool (second link you gave) simply goes through the
entries for the overlap times in March/october and shows you the entries
that *could* be incorrect there and allows you to leave a box checked or
uncheck a box for changing or not changing the entry to 'correct it'. It is
only better than manually doing it because it pulls the entries out and lets
you look at them in a list - and you don't have anything else around to
distract you. That's it. If you want to - you could just manually fix any
bum entries.

Otherwise - you should install the DST patches ASAP.

Thanks Shenan:

I do use Outlook Calendar, but the few events I now have scheduled for the
period March 11---April 1 are not time specific. I gather from what you
wrote that there isn't much reason to download and install that Outlook MS
update , and that any such appts I schedule from now on for that time frame
can be almost as easily adjusted manually.....Would prefer not to install mS
programs unless really needed.

Thanks again:

-Eli

The DST changes will be in place until Congress changes them again. I would
install now so what you don't get into trouble on March 22, 2009!

There is no need for the Outlook 2003 DST tool unless you need to fix
current calendar entries.
You should apply the Windows patch for DST.
