DSUM with inactive worksheet.

I have individual workbooks for differet clients, which
are all aranged in alphabatical order in a folder.
All have same number of coloumns and details.
I wanted to use DSUM to sum the deposits made on specific
dates. But DSUM works only within a worksheet or only if
all workbooks are open at the same time. I cant have all
800 workbooks open at the same time. SUM function works
when linked with inactive worksheet. SUMIF also works.
only DSUM doesnt work.

Hi
you may use SUMPRODUCT instead. e.g.
=SUMPRODUCT(--(rng1=condition1),--(rng2=condition2),range_to_sum)
