Dual installation Office 2003, Office 2007

We have a business need to have BOTH Word 2003 and Word 2007 running on the
same XPProSP3 machine. Is there a way to configure the machine so that only
Word 2003 will open when launching files created with either version? Word
2007 would be opened when needed by launching the app.

You would have to hack the registry to do that.

I am not sure that this is technically possible: each application is
designed to take over the file associations in the registry each time in
launches.

You might be able to bodge it so that Word 2003 opens for .doc, and Word
2007 opens for .docx.

We can't tell you how to do that in here: You have landed in the Macintosh
Word group by mistake. Sorry about that, not your fault: the Microsoft
website design is appalling!!
