Dual monitor support in PowerPoint 2004

I have a presentation that I am trying to run with my laptop hooked up
to a second monitor. The monitor that is displaying the slideshow is
set at 1600x1200 and my laptop screen is set at 1152x768. The
presenter notes on my laptop displays ok but my monitor display is
black. This use to work fine in Office X. I have noticed that if I
reduce the monitor to around 1152x870 it displays fine. Why can't
version 2004 handle the higher setting on the external monitor? Any
ideas of how I can fix the problem.

Hi

It seems likely you may be exceeding the total video RAM available on your
computer. Try the same setup on a computer with more video RAM and see
whether or not it's PowerPoint or just not enough RAM.

You can find out how much video RAM is in your computer by clicking on the
Apple icon, choose About this Macintosh, then click the More Info button.
