Dual Monitor Support

Is it just me, or does Office not work well on a Dual Monitor setup?

I've tried both Excel and Entourage and no luck. I generally have a RemoteDesktop window to my PC open on my second monitor so that I could use Outlook -- but with the new version of Entourage, I've had no need...other than I can't do the second window without continual crashes anytime I do a resize.

Excel? I can slide things to the second window, but I can't pull it higher than it would be on the first.

Great apps though! FAR FAR FAR better than the last ones and other than the dual monitor problem, I'd say superior to the equivalent Windows versions! Thanks for the excellent Entourage...heck, it is even better than Thunderbird for my non-exchange stuff!

Anyhoo...anyone else having this problem?

Mac 10.4.11 -- Macbook Pro (original...not the newer updates) -- Office 2008.

There is a recognized problem with Excel with dual monitors as you have
described. Microsoft is aware of the problem, but there is no news about
when (or even if) it will be fixed.

Word 2008 seems to be having issues with dual display as well and it's driving me crazy! I run dual displays off my Macbook Pro (late 2007) and every time I drag the Word window over to the second display, it jumps back to the main screen the second I minimize or maximize any other program. To make it worse, it also resizes it to about 1/5th the original size.

It's a nice program otherwise, but unless I can use word on my large second display and don't leave the program for any reason, it's not much use. Has anyone else encountered this, and if so has anyone been able to fix it?

Everyone has encountered it: it's a bug, and there's a fix on the way.

As a work-around, send that second monitor to ME!

You will then not get the problem :)

Cheers

Thanks for the replies!

It has just been a little maddening...my second monitor has been sitting there doing absolutely nothing for two weeks now :) I don't know how I got work done before this!

Oh yeah...I had a PC up and a Mac up at all times...thats how!

Again, thanks and hope to see the patch soon!

The second monitor ought to do something. In excel, you can put the
formatting palette there. In Word, you can place document windows and the
formatting palette there.

Well yeah...it does something! It crashes when I put things there!
Then something is fishy. The only issues I've seen (and am having myself) is
that Excel windows can't be moved above the menu bar. But it does not crash.
