Dual versions of Pro

I have MS Project Pro 2003 and 2007 loaded on my desktop. Office defaults to
opening .mpp files with 2007. I went in to File types and changed the
selection for .mpp files to MS Project instead of MS Office Project and now
it won't open the files at all. I can bring up the app and open the files
but I can not open the files from the directories.

I would like to make 2003 my default as I am transitioning. Any ideas?

Hi Ripper,

I assume when you install the 2007 (newer) version it overwrites the
file associations. If you right click on the file in Explorer can
you choose the earlier version of Project under the "Open With"
command?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Unfortunately, when I do the open with and select 2003 nothing happens. If I
select 2007 it opens. The file was originally created and saved in 2003 but
shows in the directory view as a MS Office Project file instead of an MS
Project file. It has never been saved using 2007.

Hi Ripper,

Sorry my suggestion didn't work. It sounds as though the file
associations are changed for good. It appears as though your only
option is to open the desired version of Project and then open the
file from within that product. Perhaps someone who runs both
version on a single machine can suggestion another option.
