Dumb Question Time...

B

BoatPerson

Is there any technical/behavioral difference between having a page named
"htm" vs "html" ?

Harry

S

Steve Easton

No.

However, the home page for a website needs to have the extension required by
the server for the "Default" page.
The "Default" page is the one that opens when you click on the url to a
domain such as www.mysite.com

Other than that .htm and .html are interchangeable.

No, it only matters when the web host set the default document (home page) name to have the specific
file extension of .html, instead of .htm

Got it -- Thanks very much... kind of "long-in-the-tooth" here -- grew up
with EAM equipment, punch cards and mainframes, but have been trying to learn
this PC stuff and seemed to have the 3-char DOS extension thing drilled into
my head... so was curious about the extra "virtual" character.

Punch cards and DOS.
Remember them well.

Used to even have a programmers protractor. ( I think that's what it was
called. )

NO Dog---- he had a niece Penny (Gloria Winters),
In one episode:
A Dog Named Barney: The town's much-loved newsboy, Johnny, is blind and is
given a seeing-eye dog by the community. When Johnny and Barney stumble into
a robbery, the dog takes off after the bandit, and Sky must track the heroic
German shepherd, hoping it will lead him to the perpetrator!
