duplex printing

I filled out the form for a new post but is seems to be lost in the
electronic vapor land.
Can you please help?
I am trying to print a 10 page manual in MS Word 2003 with up-to-date SW, 2
pages /sheet, paper landscape, document portrait. I have an HP 1000 and an HP
7530. Both give the same problem. I even took it to Kinko's and they couldn't
get it to print correctly. BTW I want to have it saddle stapled in the middle.
The cover comes out on the wrong side for the manual. It is not on the front
page with the binding to the left. It is backwards.
The page orientations are 1 (L) & 3 (R) back of that page 2 (L) & 4 (R);
next page 5 (L) & 7 (R); back of that page 6 (L) & 7(R); next page 10(L) &
BLANK (R); back of that page 9(L) & BLANK (R)
I have tried every conceivable way to get the orientation correct bit it can
get worse, never better (;<})
Thank you so very much in advance,

You cannot have a 10-page booklet. Booklets must have a multiple of four
pages. Are you using the "book fold" option?

HI Suzzane,
By "book fold" do you mean manual duplex? I see no selection under my
printer for "book fold" Doesn't mean it isn't there, though. (;<]) I just
don't see it.
I added 2 "fill" pages and printed it again. It prints all the pages but 1
is still the wrong. It is the first page on the left. The pages are still
oriented incorrectly. 2 is on the back of 1, etc.
Thanks for your help, this is frustrating as the "old" software was print
one side (odd)trun it around and print the other side (even). I never had a
problem with it. I feel like digging out my old versions of Office.

On the Margins tab of Page Setup there is a setting for "Multiple pages."
Instead of choosing "2 pages per sheet," choose "Book fold."

YES YES!!
I REALLY appreciate your time and concern. Now, do me a favor. Go to the
Word print directions and look at it from the viewpoint of someone who never
used the function duplex printing. It is (IMHA) very confusing. Thanks again
for your help.

I've only ever duplexed totally manually myself. I am easily confused, so I
prefer to be in control of the process so that I will understand it.
