Duplex printing

I have a workbook with 4 spreadsheets, each taking 1 page to print.
I want Sheet 2 to print on the reverse side of Sheet 1 and Sheet 4
on the reverse of Sheet 3 so that all four pages of data takes
2 sheets of paper to print.

I have tried selecting 2 sheets at a time and 4 sheets at a time
but printing result is always single sided even though "duplex"
is selected in printer properties. In the Print dialog box I have
tried selecting "Active Sheets", "Entire Workbook" and even
"Selection". Eventually, by printing to a PDF creator, I have
concluded that Excel is treating each tab is a separate print
job. i.e. I get 4 separate PDFs.

I'm sure I've done this successfully before but I can't remember how.

My printer doesn't support duplex printer.

So I print the odd pages first, then turn the pages upside down and refeed them
to the printer when I print the even number pages.

I didn't notice that this was for a PDF printer.

One trick is to insert new sheet.
Then select your first range (on the first worksheet).
Edit|copy

go to the new sheet
Shift-Edit|Paste picture link

And do the same with the second range (on the second worksheet).

And so forth...

And by pasting a link, it'll change if you change any of the copied cells.

(Don't forget to insert page breaks appropriately.)

Then print that new sheet.

One more thought...

There are utilities for PDF's that allow you to combine multiple PDF's into a
single pdf.

You may want to print each sheet and use a utility like that.

Thanks Dave.
No. It isn't for a PDF printer. Rather than kill all the trees
on the planet I eventually decided to used the PDF idea instead.
That way I can still see what's going on without wasting all that
ink and paper.

It isn't realistic to fiddle with re-feeding paper. The printer is
a network printer and as soon as you put non-standard paper in it,
someone else always manages to print on it, ruining your job and theirs.

I'll try the linking idea. I guess I could put all 4 links on one new
sheet and just send that sheet to the printer as a single job.

I was sure I'd done something like this before but ...

I too have notice this. One cannot print the whole workbook and have double
side printing - each worksheet starts on a new physical page. I found the
PDF method OK but slow. I printed all sheets and then combined the PDF
files. It is a bit slow!
best wishes

I'm also finding any long-term solution for this problem.
You may use this method to print as one file on the printing dialogue:

1. Select "Page(s) From __ to __"
2. Select "Active sheet(s)"
3. Press "OK"
