I had my computer hard drive reformatted and then the guy reinstalled
Outlook. When I transferred my .pst file and opened Outlook, it had made
extra folders and was “using†a new Inbox with nothing in it (no address
book, old e-mails, nothing - but e-mail was coming in there so it was the
primary folder). As for the Contacts folder: There is one named Contacts
but that was made in the reinstall. The reinstall renamed the other two
folders “Contacts from Personal Folders†and “Private Contacts from Personal
Folders†(they used to be named "Contacts" and "Private Contact" before the
reformatting). I dragged all my e-mails from the former Inbox, and my
contacts from the “Contacts from Personal Folders†to “Contacts†so my
address book now opens up properly and my incoming e-mails go to the Inbox
that receives and sends e-mails so that is fine. BUT...I would like to
either rename the “Contacts from Personal Folders†or delete it (since it has
nothing in it), but I can’t do either because it is still acting like the
primary folder, even though it isn't. I was a little upset about this but
the guy who worked on my computer said that that is the way it had to do it,
since we reinstalled Outlook. Is this true?? Can you help me figure this
out?
Also, it made two calendars with the reinstall. Again, I
would like to transfer the information to the one calendar folder and delete
the other or keep the one that was my old one and delete the new one. I
haven't tried it, but I’m concerned that it will be the same situation where
I can’t delete a folder. And I don't understand how to transfer the
information from one calendar to another. I only use one calendar.
Thank you so much for your help! I like things neat and
tidy and this is really bugging me. Especially when I have my new
high-powered cleaned up PC!
