Duplicate Calendars required

I am working to integrate 3 schedules and create a Master Project Schedule.
My problem is that 1 schedule will be working 8 hour days. The 2nd is
working 14 hr days and the 3rd goes from a 24 hour scheduled workday.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what I can do? The Master converts
everything to the original 8 hour workday because that is what the 1st
schedule is using.
I can't rely on the info being imported.
I need help. Any ideas??

Hi Connie

for the 14hr one & the 24hr one (and if you're using ver 2000 and higher)
you can create a task calendar and apply it to each task in the project - it
then seems to work when integrated into a Master schedule.

to create a task calendar
1) tools / change working time
2) new
3) give name ... click OK and set times
now apply it to the tasks
1) select all tasks
2) choose task information icon
3) advanced tab - choose calendar drop down
4) choose calendar

i've only quickly tested this idea and it appeared to work, so i would be
interested to hear how it goes for you

Cheers

Thanks for your help Julie. I still cannot get it working.
I have gone in and created the separate calendars. I made sure to create
the calendars to match the project schedule that I am inserting.

When I look at the Change Working Time section they are there.
When I go into the adbanced tab, they are not there.
I'm not sure what is keeping it from showing up!!

I have tried to creat the calendars to match each of the schedules that I am
inserting into the Master Schedule.

When I go to Change Working Time, I see it there with the times I have
created.
But when I go to the advanced tab, and select Calendar, they are not there.

I'm not sure what is keeping them from showing up.
Thanks,
Connie

I did go in and create the new calendars. I can see them when I go into
"change Working Times". But when I go to the Advanced tab for each task -
they do not show up there.

I'm not sure what is blocking them. I made sure to go back and check the
original file to be sure they all have the same calendar set up. They do.
I may go back and try to insert the subproject again to see if anything will
change.

As the new calendars are created and the 3 projects are imported to the new
Master Schedule this is happening:

for instance:
The 24 hour project schedule has been imported. It has picked up the 8-hour
conditions of the Master.
Many - but not all of the durations are messed up. On one task - 5 weeks
has changd into 8.57 weeks.
I have selected the task information bar and changed the calendar to the 24
hr calendar but the durations have not changed.

Does anyone know what could be keeping this from working?
I open the original 24 hr schedule and luckily the durations are correct.

Any suggestions?

Hi Connie,
I think the problem you are running into is not so much a calendar problem
as a problem with the definition of what a "day" means.

The durations that you see in the Master schedule are coming from the master
schedule's definition of how many hours are in a day. (Tool -- Options -->
Calendar). By default, a "day" means 8 hours to project. So when you insert
a project where the definition of a day means 24 hours into a master project
where the definition of a day is 8 hours, the task duration shown in the
master project will be off. (For example a one day task in the 24 hours
project will change to 3 days in the master project.)
Because you are working with 3 different definitions of a "day" (24 hour, 14
hours, and 8 hours) you may just want to convert the duration in the master
project to hours. Tools-> Macro -> Macros, select the Format_Duration macro
and select hours from the drop-down.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
