Duplicate Contracts after Synchronization with Windows Live

Fabian

Hi,

well, the subject already tells the whole story. After Synchronizing with
Outlook Connector 12.1 (Outlook 2007) many contacts are available twice in my
address book. Even after deleting all contacts from Outlook and Live and
restoring the correct address book in Outlook, the contacts are duplicated
again as soon as sync takes place.

Is there a way to fix that?

By Windows Live, do you mean the online Contact listing at people.live.com?

You can Merge duplicate listings there under Manage and it is the best place
to edit your Contacts. Takes time to sync, though, so be patient.

It's under Options/More options/Customize or Manage/ at people.live.com.

I think I don't really understand your question. I have been using outlook
for years. At some point in time, I came across Outlook Connector, which was
great since it synchronized Mail as well as Contacts with Windows Live. Since
then, my Outlook contacts were stored online one could say. Synchronization
worked fine just until recently. I don't know what changed, but now I can't
seem to get my address book fixed... which is quite a problem for me...

Do you have contacts stored online? They will be synced.

Jep, that's what I mean. Somehow all contacts are gone online now and
available double in Oulook... not good.

huh, there they are, back again online.

OK, now they are single online and double in outlook.

Where are you looking when you see the doubled contacts? What window? What
view of that window? What folder?

Outlook - Contacts - Contacts (this is the only folder containing contacts in
my Live folder, but I do have some backup folders in my archive - anyway
latter are probably not listed, otherwise there would be many more...) - "any
view"

What's even more weired is that it only affects some contacts - always the
same ones, but seemingly without any pattern.

Are you saying that there's a subfolder Contacts underneath another Contacts
folder?

I mean that after opening outlook i press the blue contacts button on the
lower left side (which turns yellow). Then folders containing contacts are
displayed on the upper left side. The folder associated with my windows Live
Account is called Contacts, too.

In the folder list that would be the (one and only) contacts folder within
the (e-mail address removed) -pst.

You are supposed to see two Contacts folders in that view because you have two
Contacts folders. However, in no way are they related and do not
automatically sync entries between them. the "Contacts in Personal Folders"
is for non-Live Mail accounts like POP and IMAP. The WIndows Live account
will have its own folder set and its Contacts folder will contain the same
contacts only if you copied them from the "Contacts in Personal Folders"
folder.

I deleted the standard pst, as I am not using other mail accounts within
outlook. Anyway, do you have any clue what could cause the problem?

If you click Tools>Account Settings and choose the Data Files tab, what do you
see?
