"Duplicate Control" for capital letters

M

Mehmet Nuri Naslic

Hello there,
In MS Office Word, if you write all the letters of the word as capital, you
will not get any warning for spelling even if it is wrong spelled. As you
know, it is because of private names.
However, to have duplicate control before having spelling control may cause
problem as I had.
For instance; if you write a word as "or" and "OR" next to it, it gives
duplicate error for "OR". But, "OR" Represents "Operating Room" indeed.
We may have more examples on it.

I am also in software business. Therefore, I suggest you to remove that
control in case of the second word is within all capital letters or the first
one.
Thanks

Word does mark words in all caps as misspelled if you clear the check box to
exempt them. But to solve the "or OR" problem, use a nonbreaking space
between the two words.

I have already done it, since I do create solutions for my business in the
same way, as well. I was asking permanent solution for you to create.

Don't you think that breaks the grammar rules? What if you would skip the
spelling for those kind of phrases?

I say that the "OR" is a private name, therefore it shouldn't be underlined
as duplicated.
Don't you think we need to skip duolication control for those kind of
situations?

You can achieve this by formatting "OR" as "Do not check spelling or
grammar."
