Hi Guys,

I switched form a PC to a mac about a month ago, very happy.

I have two identities. One is for my own business and one is for my work.
I have changed my business email server from Pop3 to IMAP (I am with Telus in Canada). My work email is a Pop 3 and I don't believe I have the control to change it.

My work email was working fine until today. Today the entire server was downloaded to my work inbox and now I have 1000 new messages, I think there must be mostly duplicate emails.

1. how do I fix this problem so it doesn't happen again?!
2. Is there anyway to view all the duplicate emails so I can delete them and get back to normal work mode?
Thanks

Eli

You really don't need two Identities in Entourage. You can keep both in the
same did and use Rules to keep them separate.

Usually, ISPs allow you to have either POP or IMAP accounts. You would need
to check to see what limit you can keep on server.

Receiving duplicate emails is usually server error, or it happen when you
rebuild Entourage. There's nothing you can do to stop this, but you can use
the remove duplicate scripts to clean up the mess.

but honestly, that all seems to be above my comprehension.

I'll be happy to explain if you ask a detailed question on what you don't
understand.

For example............

An identity is a complete personality of Entourage, containing (preferences,
account settings.

Your identity is named "Main" by default. It is located in the Microsoft
User Data folder.

A User is a term used by the Mac OS. The terms Identity and User are often
confused. Entourage stores your data in an Identity, and the Mac OS creates
Users.

--------
Each identity can have (almost) any number of accounts. Each account is
associated with a distinct email address than can be used to send and/or
receive mail, but all mail is stored in the same database, all calendar
events are common to all the accounts, all notes & contacts are shared.

You can have multiple accounts in Entourage. Examples: POP, IMAP, Hotmail,
Gmail, AOL, Exchange, news accounts.

-----------
Rules are used to organize your mail.

There are three types of rules used in Entourage to manage your mail. The
Mailing List Manager (MLM) and Junk Mail Filter (JMF) are names for
specialized rules. Rules are custom rules that you create.

Mailing List Manager (MLM) is a user friendly approach to Rules which allows
you to set specialized actions for incoming list messages (like the
Entourage Talk list)

The Junk Mail Filter is a specialized rule to help manage your unwanted
mail.
