Duplicate emails in Inbox and Junk Mail

Every message I receive, junk or not, is duplicated in my junk mail folder.
What setting should I change in 2007 to stop this from happening? I looked
in Rules and nothing made much sense.
Please help as it's driving me nuts and I teach Outlook.

And would this be for a POP, IMAP, HTTP, or Exchange account? Some
e-mail protocols simply reflect (synchronize) the contents of the
server-side folders so perhaps the problem is up on the server.

But are any rules DEFINED? I don't use OL2007 but the rules are
probably very similar to those that can be defined in OL2002. Alerts
are something that maybe an OL2007 could decipher for you. That they
don't make sense does NOT say there are no such definitions.

You "teach" Outlook but you cannot interpret the rules or alerts defined
in it? Stop teaching. Do some reading. Then go back to teaching.

Did you ever use the webmail interface to your e-mail account to see if
the problem is also exhibited up on the mail server?

Have you yet tried starting Outlook in its safe mode ("outlook.exe
/safe") to ensure some add-on isn't causing the problem?

Have you yet disabled any e-mail scanning performed in your anti-virus,
anti-spam, or any other software that interrogates your e-mail traffic?

I get a lot of duplicate messages to and no there is only one on the server.
Usually this only hapens to me when I create a rule to move certain email
accounts it to a specefic folder. I do use the move and not the copy but 3
identical messages show up in the folder so this has to be some kind of a
rule malfunction.

More likely a problem with your anti-virus program. Disable its
scanning of e-mails. Sometimes disabling their e-mail scanning isn't
sufficient because the traffic still goes through their proxy, so you
have to uninstall the product and reinstall it but use a custom install
where you elect to NOT include their e-mail scan component. The target
folder has 3 copies because the source folder (Inbox) had 3 copies so
the problem is back in the Inbox folder getting multiple copies -- and
anti-virus programs that scan e-mails can cause that problem. Also, if
you don't use a stop-clause in a rule then successive rules can cause
side effects. If you don't want to OR the rules together, use the "stop
processing further rules" clause.
