I
Iain
I've recently moved from W2K and Outlook 2K to XP SP1 and
Outlook 2003. Just prior to moving laptops I also had all
manner of problems with my .pst file and had to create a
new file and copy things over. It was an old file and had
been in use and grown and been compacted many times so it
was probably time for a change! It ewas only the moving of
calander entries which was the real pain. Oh for a Ctrl+A
drag and drop for calander entries!!
Anyway, now on my new laptop with Outllok 2003 I see some
odd behaviour. ScanPST says it's fixed some things but I'm
not completely convinced. So the odd behaviour I see
includes:
The *same* pst file appears twice under mail. Note this
isn't two entries of two different pst file both
called 'Personal Folders', this is *the same* pst file.
I've tried setting a different pst as the default mail
delivery file and closing 'personal folders', but as soon
as I reopen it it appears twice!!
The same file keeps giving errors on the homepage:
Line 298
Char 1
Error: Access denied
code 0
URL outllok://Personal%20Folders/
Do you want to continue runnig scripts on this page?
The page does otherwise render, but it again suggests
something isn't quite right!
The address book seems messed up too. I have finally go
the Contacts to appear in the address book but from
somewhere there's a second empty address book and I don't
seem to be able to get rid of it! Abd under the 'Show this
address list first' drop down I have:
Outllook Address Book
Contacts
Contacts
Contacts
Yep, thast's 3 contacts!!
And I've also been using the re-introduced remote mail
feature (yipee...much better than downloading all that
spam), but... While this generally seems to work well
sometimes I get both a downloaded copy and 'header-only'
copy of the same message. I don't understand why as the
rule is set to only download headers and while this is
gnerally the case, sometimes I get the header AND a fully
downloaded copy of the same message in the same Send and
Receive cycle. Any ideas?
So I'm wondering if I still have a damaged pst, however...
1. ScanPST doesn't seem to recognise a problem and so
isn't fixing anything
2. There doesn't seem to be a 2002 and older to 2003 PST
file upgrade/import routine :-(
3. I really don't want to have to move all my calander
entries again as it was a big enough pain the first time
around
Any ideas on my woes?
Thanks.../Iain
