duplicate entries in To field

I am experiencing a problem when I create new mail
messages. Whenever I chose a contact from the global
address list Outlook creates a duplicate entry in
the "To:" field. Is there a setting that I have checked
off or need to check off? Any assistance would be
greatly appreciated.
