I have just reformatted and reinstalled my op system.

i installed office 2003

outlook reverts back to 2002 in appearance and in the icon in the tray. it lacks the functionality that comes wiht 2003.

at first i installed office 2002 and then the upgrade.

then i uninstalled office and isntalled only the upgrade.

still no change.

could there be residual registry entries that are controlling the appearance

hel

thanks.

As a general rule when installing an update type app it is not neccessary to
have the qualifying App installed on yr pc.
Install the update, when you get the msg it cannot locate the qualifying
app, put this in yr cd and point the install to it.

i did that and it went in beautifully, but the result is still that I have the old 2002 icon in the tray and some of the features but not the layout of 2003

It may be as you say residual 2002 entries in yr registry etc.
I now the MS kb has articles regarding the complete uninstall of earlier
Office versions, I assume such also exist for yr two.
Being that they do it might be neccessary to check pc for the complete
removal of both.
Not being up to speed with 2003 I'm assuming theres no bizare option to
alter its 'look & feel'
