Duplicate Meetings

Hello,
I'm a computer technician with a state government agency. Several
of my users are getting duplicate meeting appointments in their Outlook XP
calendars (all running Windows 2000 SP3). What is actually happening is that
as soon as the meeting request is received, a tentative meeting goes into
the calendar but when the recipient opens the e-mail containing the request,
a yellow bar shows up at the top of the form that says the meeting can't be
found in the calendar. So, if the meeting is accepted, you end up with the
origninal tentative meeting plus the accepted meeting (that shows up as
"busy") so there are now 2 meetings side-by-side.

What I really need help with are tools that would let me look into
what Outlook is looking for when it searches for the tentative meeting to
give me some idea of why it's not seeing the meeting even though it's in the
calendar. Are there any tricks I can use to delve deeper into the software
that handles the calendar form? I think I've done all the obvious things
such as checking for rules, etc. that might be causing a problem.

Thanks,
Earl
