Duplicate message problem

Two of here at a university (Mac users in a PC environment) are receiving 6
or more duplicate e-mail messages for each message received.

I have run repair permissions, which did not solve the problem.

Our ITS group does not support Macs, and we have been told that it must be
an "Entourage problem."

In addition, spam is multiplied by 6, necessitating constant clean up.

Do you have a solution for this problem?

Are you sure Entourage is causing this? If there's another way to log into
the affected email accounts, such as webmail, see if the duplicates are
there.

If so, check your Rules and Mailing List Manager to see if there's anything
that could be inadvertantly creating copies. Also try rebuilding you
database (see <http://www.entourage.mvps.org/database/rebuild.html>).

This is usually a server error. You might try setting up as an IMAP account.
This might help avoid the problem.

To get rid of duplicates use one of the scripts to remove duplicates.

<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq_topic/duplicates.html>

Remove Duplicate Messages Author: Jolly Roger

This script uses a thorough method of examining message
headers that guarantees it won't mistakenly mark two messages that
happen to have the same subject as duplicates.

This script takes a lot more time than the other scripts. I've used them all
with no problems.
