When I first got my MacBook Pro, I used a software program to move my
contacts from my Outlook on my PC to my Mac. There was a problem with
the software which forced me to delete the contacts I had moved and
try again. I tried this three times, but each time not all of my
contacts moved over. Subsequently, I set up my exchange server and
downloaded the contacts by syncing them. Now when I go to send an
email and type in an address the auto-complete list shows that email
address three times in some cases. I would like to eliminate the
duplicates on the auto-complete list. I have already tried the
Entourage>Preferences>Compose>Clear List idea with no luck. Any
ideas?
If you had your contacts in your Outlook Contacts list then you had no
need to try to download or import anything.
Items in Contacts are stored on your Exchange server and shared between
Outlook and Entourage automatically.
If you had your contacts in an Address Book in Outlook, which are stored
only on your Windows computer, then you could copy those to your
Contacts list to synchronize them with Entourage.
The duplicates and triplicates you're seeing in the auto-complete list
are probably coming from:
1) Your Most Recently Used (MRU) list
2) Your Entourage Address Book (On My Computer)
3) Your Contacts address book (on Exchange)
4) Your company's Global Address List (GAL) or directory
You cannot delete items from the GAL. I suggest you move clean up your
Contacts list and then delete everything in your Entourage Address Book.
Hope this helps!
