duplicate "personal folders"

Jay

i imported my old outlook .pst file to outlook 2003. now
i have 4 exact copies of the "personal folders" tree.
They are exactly the same. How can i get rid of 3 of
them?

Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling, importing again,
etc. is just annoying having the same files multiple
times.

thanks in advance

Jay,
I'm in the same boat - sort of - I imported outlook 2003.pst files from an old system to a new one - each entry came in triplicate whether it was a contact or a calendar entry???
Did you get response/fix to your problem?

Same here! Pretty annoying. I only have 2 personal folders showing up,
not 4, but they are mirrored in real time... I can create a folder in
one and it shows in the other... I can delete an email in one and it
deletes in the other. The only difference is the icons next to each
personal folder name.
I haven't yet found a way to remove this "feature"... I wonder if it
has something to do with the "Favorites" shortcuts.
I was just told that by changing the views one can make it look just
like Office XP. I'll have to kick around in it, and I hope that I can
find the right combination of tweaks to fix it. If I have any luck I
will follow up.

Im also having the same problem as you guys! Seems quite a common thing
I cant even close the folders. Does anyone know where the details ar
kept on the computer of the data files? Like in the registry anywhere
I have had a quick look but cant find them

Within the Outlook folder, there are a bunch of folders with long
hexadecimal values for names -- those are the ones you need to look in to
see if you can find the ghost .PST names. If you delete one of the keys and
it points to your real .PST file instead of one of the ghosts, it's not the
end of the world -- your data won't be gone. The worst you would have to do
is recreate your Outlook profile.

Problem - that key doesn't exist I get as far as
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows
Messaging Subsystem\Profiles, then have two keys -one for each of my two
profiles - No "Outlook" key, and therefore no entries under it. What now???
