Duplicate Tasks

All,

A team member has a duplicate task showing up in EPM in his "Tasks". I have
checked the plan in "Resourec Usage" and checked the task in the plan itself
to make sure he wasn't assigned twice. I tried to "Hide" the duplicate task
in EPM. but I get an error message. Please let me know if you have a
suggestion for removing the duplicate task that I have not already tried.

Thanks,
Scott

Hi Gary,

The version is 2003, and the error message is:

VBScript: Microsoft Office Project Web Accesss 2003

You cannot hide this task for one of the following reasons
* It is a delegated task that you are a lead for
* It is a summary task with existing subtasks
* It is a nonproject time task defined by the server administrator
* It is a task transferred from Outlook

None of the above applies. I appreciate your assistance.

Given that you are uncertain as to the source of the task, it's difficult to
know for certain that "none of the above apply." Can you determine the
original source of the task? If it originated from an existing plan on the
system, the easiest way to deal with this is to save the plan as an mpp
file, delete the plan on the server, and import the plan back to enterprise
from your saved mpp file. Make sure that you apply all pending updates to
the plan before you attempt this manuever.

Yes, the task was assigned from an existing plan. The person was assigned to
the task back in 2007 and later quit the company and was made inactive. The
person then came back to the company and was made active with the same tasks
as before. I will take a look at saving the plan as an mpp and deleting the
exisiting. Any other suggestions you might have?

Thanks,
Scott
