Duplicated (repeated) word

Using Word 2003 with XP, occasionally and for unkown reasons, a word will be
duplicated (repeated). The mistake appears during spell check with the
message inquiring whether I wish to delete the repeated word.

The most common explanation is that the user actually *did* type the word
twice - usually because they were interrupted or distracted at that point &
inadvertently did so when they resumed typing. A very common phenomenon:)

Other possibilities exist, but if this is a random occurrence (not the same
word(s) consistently) they are not very likely to be the cause.

To add to what Bob has said, if a word is repeated intentionally and you
don't want it caught by the spelling/grammar checker, you can put a
nonbreaking space (Ctrl+Shift+Spacebar) between the two words and then, if
necessary, add the modified word to the spelling checker. This works for,
say, Walla Walla and Bora Bora.

With a possible minor disadvantage that the word Bora Bora will no longer
break itself to line wrap.
