Using Publisher 2003 I want to update and add pages to my web site built with
Publisher 97. How can I get to the background I originally used to copy it
so I can build new pages for my web site?

What's the URL? I have Publisher 97, I could email the background to you. Have
you tried right-clicking the web page and copying the background?

Thank you,
I tried to right click the web page but the image i get I still can't get to
with Pub 2003. I really would be in your debt if you could get the image and
move the background image to the foreground before you email it to me. If
there is ever anything I could do for you please just hollar. You haveno
idea how much of a headache this has been.
My web site is Http://vauchelet.com
Thanks so very much!

No one has to actually send it to you, you already have it:

No need. Just go to http://vauchelet.com/back.gif and that is your
background image. Right click it, and "save picture as" to your hard drive.

By the way, if you still have Pub 97 and the original Pub file, you would be
best served staying with Pub 97. The coding engine is different in Pub 2003
and the resident expert David Bartosik, has recommended staying with the
version you started with unless you don't have the choice. You can run both
97 and 2003 on the same machine...just my 2 cents worth.

Thank you! I'm stuck using 2003 as because I don't have the original files
any more due to a catastrophic crash....Divorce
But thank you !

I hate that when that happens! As you don't have Pub 97 or the original Pub
file, you might save some time by using the Pub 2003 capability of opening
an HTM/HTML file. David Bartosik wrote an article about "Common Sense
Computing 101 aka "Why in the world would you lose your publisher file?"
where he takes you to task a bit about loosing the Pub file and the
importance of backing up files, but then at the bottom of the article, he
discusses how to recreate a site using Pub 2002 or 2003.:

If you want to simply rebuild your page from scratch in 2003, but need more
of the graphics such as the background GIF, then your webhost probably has
some sort of file manager, where you can download just the those files.
