Duplication of external links in MS Project

We are using Project Pro 2003. We have numerous projects in a shared folder
on the network. Some tasks are linked to tasks in other projects. Sometimes
projects are checked out, updated and then copied back in. Frequently this
results in duplicate entries for a link to an external task.

We have other scenarios that result in even more bizarre results; but
basically it comes back to getting duplications of links (and it does not
stop at 2).

So is anyone aware of problems like this and know any work-arounds? Or are
there better ways to handle our setup, short of going to Server.

Hi,

Quoting from memory, if you just move the file(s) when closed this
duplication doesn't happen.
Save As on the other hand will start fooling around with addresses.
Not 100% sure but I tryuly believe...
