Duration and Work

Hi there,

Have a task that is Fixed work where Duration=1h, Work=1h with a resource
assigned 100%.

When an actual of 0.5h is entered and Remaining Work is set to 0h then
Duration is set to 8h. Why is this? Should it not be 0.5h?

I've seen some postings on these. I've got difficulty trying to understand
some of the answered posts. Could someone please explain this in more detail
and shed some light.

Also is changing the Duration and Actual Work in the Task Usage view the
workaround to this?

Hi

I have experienced the same. Project moves remaining work to the next day if
there is remaining work on the task when you enter actual work, this expands
the duration. When a task is to be finnished like this it would help if you
first enter remaining work equal to the last actual work you wish to
register. In your case: enter remaining work as 0.5h, then enter actual work
as 0.5h wich again gives you remaining work 0h and the duration stays as is.
