Duration Box

Hi Mike

this is to indicate estimated duration - basically (initially) this is where
project has set the default duration and not you.

It's a feature that was introduced in project 2000 to show the difference
between when you set the duration to 1d and when project set the duration to
1d.

Hope this helps - let us know

Cheers

Julie/Mike,
Just a follow-on, the question mark associated with estimated duration
can be turned off by going to Tools/Options/Schedule tab. Uncheck the
option for showing estimated durations.

Julie/Mike/John,

Just a follow-on to the follow on ! You can also type in the ? when
entering a Duration to show that it is an estimate and uncertain: eg 5w?
You can then filter for Tasks With Estimated Durations - neat eh?

Why is there a question mark (?) after the number of days
in this box?
.
The question mark denotes a default value i.e. one that
you as the user has not set

Always been kind of curious about this option. I thought they were all
estimates until they became actuals....
