Duration Calculation Issues

Using a Fixed Work task, work, duration and units have been calculated
using Generic resources. Subsequently, Generic resources were replaced
with actual resources and durations changed. Both the Generic and
Actual resources utilized the same calendar and no time is listed as
non-working in either calendars. What could be the cause of the
modification of the duration calculation?

Do any of the human resources in question have nonworking time, such as
vacation, included on their personal calendars in the Enterprise Resource
Pool? Let us know.

Hi Dale,

That's what I would have expected, but when I checked, their calendars
were exact matches to the Generic calendars. This is just a test group,
which is why the calendar does not currently include non-working time
(even holidays for the next year).

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Fresh out of ideas. Perhaps someone else has a thought for you. Sorry.

Are the Actual resources used in any other enterprise plans, e. g., Admin
plans, and/or did you turn off automatic leveling in the schedule options?

Wendy,

My suspicion is that you had resoruces where units on the task was not =
100%. If I set up a fixed work task with Resource 1 on it for 20 hours, and
change the duration to 5 days, Units = 50% (8 hour day calendar). But if I
change to Resource 2 on that task, units go to 100% and duration is recalced
to 2.5 days. I get around this by using a Find/Replace for Resource Names,
whcih replaces the text of the name, leaving the untis (%). It is not as
slick as it could be, but maybe someone else has another method.
