Duration vs. Work Question

When using Project 2007 I was able to specify work and duration for eack
task. An example might be having 8 hours of work spread over 5 days.
Project seem to know how to handle this.

I have just migrated to Project Server (2007) and via PWA (my tasks) it
looks like I can adjust work and remaining work without any issue. However,
if I want to change the start or end date, PWA increase work by 8 hours for
each day I add.

How can I let team leads make adjustments to start/finish dates if they do
not want to change the work amount (hours).

Reading your post, if you tried these changes over the same task seems a bug
if not try over the same task and check the task type to be sure how the task
change modifying start and finish date.
