dutch grammar check

Version: 2004
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

When I bought my imac they(the Brea Apple Store) said that the languages were on the Word program. I assumed that meant both spell check & grammar check so I bought the computer, now that I try to use it I find there is no grammar check in Dutch available. I called Microsoft support and they said that it isn't available on the 2004 or 2008 versions of Word. Is there a third party out there that makes a grammar check? I had one on my old PC, It seems that a worldwide company would would cater to the world. Or am I just naive to think this. I'm totally lost without my Dutch grammar check.

Hi Margaret:

I think naïve is a harsh description of yourself!

The world of software marketing is fairly human-unfriendly. There are a
wide range of things available in PC versions of software that are not
available in the Mac versions, and this is one of them.

Here is the official list:
http://tinyurl.com/369ngz

The list of languages is being added to with each new version, but Dutch
grammar has not made it into the product yet.

You could, and probably should, take the software back and get your money
back. You specifically asked the question, and purchased based upon the
advice you were given, so really it is up to the shop to make this right!

Cheers

John - Thanks for your reply. I am eagerly awaiting the development of the Dutch version for the Mac. Meanwhile as I had been whining about my predicament for two weeks, my husband came home with a solution. He is going to install Windows XP on my computer and run the two windows programs, Windows Mac & XP in parallel. And then he will install the PC Dutch version of the grammar check. I'm not sure I'm explaining it correctly as I'm at a fairly basic level of computing compared to my husband, but this seems to be the interim solution until the Mac version is developed. Thanks again for your reply.

Yep you are the only way it will be put in is enough people require it
to make a big difference in the amount of quarters they can put in the
Board of Directors' Pockets, and Fists full of Dollars in Mr Gate's. If
it but a tiny blip it isn't worth the effort, Sorry.

Try this and see if any of the links here will help:

Yes, that will work fine. That's what many of us do :)
