Dwg. Question, Please ? (no luck getting info from dwg/graphics newsgroup)

Hi,

Tried the dwg and graphics group, but next to zero activity there.
So, please let me try here:

Using the graphics and dwg options in Word for the first time.
Pretty neat; for simple stuff, it sure is a lot easier than a CAD program.

Question:

If I draw a rectangle with the rectangle tool, is there any way to have
the inside of the rectangle shaded with cross hatched lines ?

What I mean is, is it possible to have the inside filled with dashed angular
lines, like a "sectional
view callout" on a mechanical dwg. ?

Thanks,

Bob

Thanks,

Hi Bob,

In Word 2003, when I draw a shape, I then go to the FILL colour button
on the Drawing toolbar and click the downpointing arrow for the
dialogue box. If you then click on "FILL EFFECTS" there's a pretty
wide menu of preset patterns and textures available to fill your box.
Sometimes I've even used my own pictures for fill effects (if I
couldn't find what I wanted from the Word selections.

This also works for text boxes if you want to be able to type text over
top of the background (fill).

Good luck with this!

P.S. If you don't find the colour and size of grid that you want, and
if you have a steady hand, you can draw your own lines with the "line"
tool on the Drawing toolbar by clicking it twice and it will stay "on"
until you no longer need it. You can then format the colour and type
of lines (i.e. dotted, dashed, etc) to your liking.

There are times when I'd disagree with you. I'd rather use AutoCAD than
struggle with some of the piddle little stuff I've fought with in Word.
