Dynamic Link within Mail Merge....

I was once taught a way (by an Access MVP) which I could create a dynamic
link between the a database and a mail merge.

The link I created said "Look inside same folder for test.mdb" something
like .\test.mdb but I can't remember where the database connection wizardy
thing I used was - can anyone help.

Thank you

You didn't say which application you were doing the mail merge in.

Assuming it's Word, if you do the basic mail merge in Word and set Access
(your table or query) as the data source, it's "dynamic" by any common
meaning of that term. Whenever you hit the "merge" button it will grab the
latest data.

No No No!

Microsoft word and Access are the applications.

I would like it so that I can give the Database and the Word Document to
someone in a zip, so that aslong as they are extracted to the same folder (no
matter where they ie desktop or my document or drive root) the merge will
work the same - without having to reset the filepath of the database file.

I KNOW that I've done this before - but have lost the email from the Access
MVP who showed me how.

The database that I worked on before, was transported on a flash drive, and
worked on various computers.

Thank you for your response all the same.
