In Office 2007, the dynamic menu ribbon control allows a menu to be supplied
at run time. However this menu is only refreshed when the ribbon is refreshed
rather than when the user clicks the control. By contrast, a commandbar popup
control has an OnAction property which allows the associated menu to be
supplied when the user clicks on the control, and the new menu is one then
displayed.
