Dynamically building rack diagrams from a database

Has anyone ever tried to dynamically build rack diagrams from a database? We
have a database containing asset information from one of our data centers.
This database has details about its position within the rack and its height
etc.

Just wondering if anyone has ever given it a go or if there is some
commercial software out there that can do what I need.

Al Edlund may reply with another way - but I have sample VBA code in my new
book, Visualizing Information with Microsoft Visio 2007, about building rack
elevations.

As David mentioned, I can share a v2007/o2007 diagram that builds racks. The
example used reads a spreadsheet but the code is fairly easily transported
(the production version uses sql server). Let me know what you need
