e:\data1.msi is not a valid installation package for office 2000 professional

Richard Barsorian

When I try to use the import export feature in outlook
2000 it tells me the feature is not loaded and asks if I
want to load the feature now.

I answer yes, install the office 2000 pro cd and I get the
following message; "The e:\data1.msi is not a valid
installation package for the product microsoft Office 2000
Professional. Try to find the installation
package 'data1.msi' in a folder from which you can install
microsoft office 2000 Professional".

I have tried browsing to the file on the cd but it does
not make any difference.

Hi Richard,

This can be caused by several things but to correct it you will need
to zap the Windows Installer entry in the Registry and reinstall
Office.

Obtain the following utility and use it to remove only the reference
to Office. Once that is complete then you'll need to reinstall Office
to point the Windows Installer to your installation CD:

MS Installer Cleanup utility for Office 2000:
