e-mail alerts won't work

I have my alerts set-up but they will not notify me unless I click onto a
different folder other than the inbox. Then, all the alerts come up and the
incoming e-mail that I have shows up in the Inbox. Any help?

Sounds like you have a firewall blocking UDP packets. Add Outlook as an
exception to the firewall.
