You don't think it is possible that someone could mail you and cc two other
people? Or mail someone else and cc you and a friend?

Why is it ok if they cc only one other person, but not two?

In a nutshell, this isn't possible.

If you want to only send messages where you are not on the To or CC line
somewhere, that's pretty easy. Most internet mailing lists will get hit by
that rule too tho.

Overall, rather than setting up rules to combat spam, you're better off
getting a better spam filter, if you ask me.

thank you for your reply.
i don't think i explained my problem properly. i am getting lots of emails
where my name is included with others in the "CC" field . what i want to be
able to do is class them as spam or reject them. a spam filter might be the
way forward. what would you suggest

No, I think you explained it clearly, I just think there might be some
eventualities that you aren't thinking of.

For instance, do you ever get cc'd on mail that *isn't* spam?

I mean, there's a 'where my name isn't in the To box' condition which would
essentially be what you want. But, if you're cc'd on a email that isn't
spam, it will fire that rule.

As for third party spam filters, I'd start with the list at
http://www.slipstick.com/rules/junkmail.htm. I'd also talk to the ISP and
see what they have configurable for your mailbox.

But, personally, I use gmail primarily and it does the job for me. Outlook
2k7 seems to block a couple extras that it misses as well.

i thank you for your quick reply. why do i want to block emails with multiple
addresses in "CC" or for that matter "TO" . i try to keep my system virus
free and therefore i look on the possible failings of the recipients of
emails sent by my so called friends to multiple "CC" addresses Approx 70 in
number if one of the recipients dose not keep updating his anti-virus
software there are 70 + possibilities i will recieve an email from some one
on the list with a virus. I now know all 70+ email addressess.
it makes my blood boil, how do i stop this by blocking any email with
multiple "CC" addresses and also try to educate my friends about the risks
they are taking.

Well, if you have an Anti-Virus running on your system (don't install the
Outlook plugins. Gah, please don't) and use the real-time monitoring,
you're not going to get a virus. If you don't have an AV running, and you
want to keep your system virus free, then, err... why aren't you running
one?

As for blocking the mail *and* educating your friends, if you block the
mail, how will you know you got the mail? Check the Junk Mail folder? Then
why move it there? You're still going to open it.

thank you for your reply. i'm still not sure which way to approach this but i
will endevour to get my friends to only send emails to me, or send as "BCC"
and not as "CC". i am using Norton 360 which is stopping all wacky emails
which go in my anti spam folder where i use a neat little program called
"PocketKnife Peek" which let's me look at the email without the normal risks,
before i send it to the delete box.
